Don't Let Your Dreams Be Dreams

I’ve never been much of a believer in “chasing” your dreams. Instead, I believe our dreams are engrained in us. Our deepest dreams and wishes and hopes for our own life have always been nestled into our souls. Sometimes it takes years or hardships or unexpected successes for us to realize them and sometimes we’ve just known all along. Yet, I don’t believe in chasing dreams and that’s because they have been a part of us always. But I do believe in making our dreams a reality. And never, ever giving up.

While watching the Academy Awards, I noticed how many actors, producers, composers, etc. stressed the importance of following your dreams.

“Thank you for teaching me to dream.” – Jared Leto to his mother.

Some of us never received the go-ahead, the support, the acceptance from our parents to make our dreams a reality. Some of us feel limited by money, education, children, significant others, jobs, etc. later on in life. And because of that, we never go after our dreams. We never make our lives what we always dreamt they would be.

But we can’t live that way.

“When I look down at this golden statue, may it remind me and every little child that no matter where you’re from, your dreams are valid.” – Lupita Nyong’o

We all have dreams. And they are all valid. Whatever thoughts are talking you out of your dreams, whatever people are silencing your greatest passions, whatever it is in society that’s telling you, “that’s not possible,” let that be your fuel.

Prove them wrong. Silence your fears. Silence the naysayers.

This is your life. And it is never too late to make those dreams a reality. Start now. Start today.

Don’t let your dreams be dreams, my friend.
